Pre-Historic India - Stone Age and Bronze Age: The period begins with the first settlement of Homo sapiens 75,000 years ago. With stone tools and the invention of the wheel and fire, it marked the Stone Age. Later, civilization spread and developed in the northwestern part of the Indian subcontinent from 3300 to 1300 BC, and it became a high-tech and urban technology of the Mature Harappan period, from 2600 to 1900 BC.
Commonly called the Bronze Age civilization, it fell before the end of the 2nd millennium BC and was followed by Iron Age Vedic civilization that extended into the Indo-Gangetic plain. Witness the rise of major policies known as Mahajanapadas.
Indus civilization:
The Indus civilization was home to four ancient civilizations in the cities of Egypt, Mesopotamia, South Asia, and China. This civilization extended to the Indian subcontinent with the expansion of the city of Harappa which flourished between 2600 and 1700 B.C. Its highly flexible and complex culture creates a unique space in the history of the country and architecture.
